De La Cruz Family Support

*EDIT: Please read the most recent update, our friends could use more support as things have made a change for the worse these last couple of weeks.*

The families of Acacia Elementary in Fullerton have started this GoFundMe to support one of our amazing families. The De La Cruz family have touched the lives of many people in the Fullerton area. They are always willing to lend a hand. They have 6 outstanding children, whom have all made their family and friends proud with strong academics, music, sports and kindness. We were saddened to hear that their father has been diagnosed with an agressive form of cancer. We hope that with the community's help, we can help the De La Cruz family with their medical co-pays and anything else they may need in the next months ahead, as they fight this disease.  Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated.

Here is the story from Maria De La Cruz:
Early this year my husband had abdomen pain but after many tests, doctors could not find the cause of it.  By late March, my husband's legs began to get numb to the point that he would walk with difficulty. After going to the ER, (for the abdomen pain still), he mentioned to the doctor "by the way, my legs are starting to get numb". The doctor proceeded to poke his legs using a mechanical pencil, but he felt nothing.  This shocked the doctor and ordered an MRI of lower back. He had lumbar stenosis, a herniated disk & required surgery, which he had. At the two week post-op check up, my husband was worse than before, he could not walk.  An MRI of entire back was ordered. At this point they found a big cancerous tumor covering an entire vertebrae and pressing on the spinal cord. A surgery was performed. After a bone marrow biopsy, it was confirmed as "multiple myeloma". He spent one entire month in the hospital, getting rehab. Then he got a month of radiation. This past Monday, we were told he has stage 3 multiple myeloma (last stage) and found 60% cancerous cells in his bone marrow (very aggressive cancer).  He started an aggressive chemo to prepare him for bone marrow transplant at City of Hope in Feb/March. We are only at the beginning of a very "large mountain" that awaits us. We take it one day at time, and with much prayer. Our co-payments are high and any help we receive would be truly appreciated. We also ask for prayers, please.
