Help Me Save My School

My name is Kylie and I am a kindergarten at Oakdale Christian Academy and Child Care Center. Please take a moment to meet my teacher Ms. Lanice Hamilton who has been teaching at my school for 15 years. She makes school fun for me and my friends. We are kind of a lot alike because we both like bows, bright colors, and hugs. Ms. Hamilton and I are both loud and love love love spending time with our friends - she calls all of us her friends. 

This year has been a tough year for our school, and because of Covid19, we have been going through some tough times. There are so few students in the building, quite a few students have had to leave our school.  We have had to layoff some staff, and we even have to wear masks and social distance every day.

Let me tell you a little bit more about my school and the wonderful teachers and staff that work there. Oakdale Christian Academy has been around for over 27 years. It was the dream of our Emeritus Pastor Willie Jemison to give parents an opportunity to send their children to a private school at a low cost, and now our beloved Pastor D. Darrell Griffin works hard to keep the dream alive.  But over the years, Oakdale has become more than just a low-cost school, it has become family. It is one of the best safest places to learn and grow. The principal, teachers, and staff members are invested in our growth and development. Our school motto is “Educating the Mind, Nurturing the Spirit." 

I am hoping to help my school stay open. With the help of my Mommy, I am asking Santa to bring my school money to meet every need to stay afloat. Because our school is having such a difficult time, I want to help, my Grammy always tells me, “We have a responsibility to give back.” So I am trying to be responsible.
