Help McDowell Arts Council Replace Our Roof

McDowell Arts Council Association (MACA) needs a new roof. Our beautiful historic building has 3 roofs. The oldest & largest covering the second floor is dated to be at least 40 years old and leaks terribly. If it is left to further deteriorate it will cause significant damages to our community arts space.
In 2020, rainwater leaking through the ceiling destroyed our executive director's computer, some children's theatre costumes, and drywall. Temporary roof patches and buckets are no longer sustainable. The loss of over $30,000 in programming income this past year makes this kind of expense a true burden. We are asking you, our community, for help.
We have partnered with our roofing company to make a down payment so they can begin work before things get worse. They are graciously allowing us to make payments after the work is complete. Please help us reach our goal, so we can have a safe (and dry) space to promote, preserve, and celebrate our culture and the talents of our community.
In 1972, a group of fifty-two county residents created McDowell Arts Council Association, Inc., a nonprofit organization. These folks were proud of their local artistic heritage and wanted to share this legacy while promoting local artists and enriching cultural life in McDowell County. We promote inclusion, diversity, and accessibility in all programming at MACA. The arts are for all people.
