Help save Maya

Hi my names Colleen. I’m a single mom of 3 beautiful girls. After the loss of my beautiful Lab Jessie 2 years ago who struggled her whole life with a disease known as a Megaesophagus, I felt it was time to add to our family. As a suprise to my girls, I adopted  this beautiful husky who was in need of a forever home.

Little did I know the uphill battle that would begin.

Maya has a very extremely sensitive digestive system. After try recommend food from many different resources, I finally found one that would work! Hooray!

I am now making her a wonderful meal for every feeding and she loves it. Shortly after joining our family, I noticed that she was very clumsy going upstairs and had a different style of running when she was playing along side of her new best dog friend Roxy . I put that aside thinking she is a puppy. A few weeks in she started to limp on her left leg, of course I book appointment with my vet. He felt it was a small tear in her Knee ligament. I was advised to keep her extremely quiet and to see how she was in two weeks. Maya was not getting any better but worse. At this point I have been carrying her up and downstairs and out to the washroom. With follow up vet appointment we decided to do X-rays, I asked him to check hips as my gut was telling me.

It turns out that Maya has one of the worst cases of hip dysplasia known to puppies. She was most likely born with it. As she is growing, now only SIX months old she’s barely mobile. Maya needs to have a complete hip replacement on both sides. At a unbelievable cost $7000 per side and then follow ups. I cannot afford this. As to why I am asking for help to save her. 

She is absolutely the most beautiful natured puppy that I’ve ever come across. She is wonderful with the children and is very much missing her best dog friend who she can no longer play with. My heart is breaking. This beautiful soul of a dog looks up at me and I know she is asking ….why mom?

My family and I are so in love with Maya and all we want is for her to still be with us.

We just had our appointment with a vet that has come highly recommended for hip dysplasia surgery. 

After seeing Maya he has said to do surgery sooner then later as she is in pain. I have appointment booked in March and am try desperately to raise for this surgery.
