On August 11th, 2015 Doug Tabor "WheelChair Doug" was on his way home in his electric wheelchair when he was hit by an automobile. The driver never stopped and Doug was left laying in the road. The person responsible has never come forward. As a result he was hospitalized with 2 broken legs and a broken back. He returned home with 24 hour support and both legs in casts.
Doug also has Multiple Sclerosis so he is very limited in what he can do without assistance.
He has since returned to the hospital with complications related to the hit and run.
Doug' s motorized chair was heavily damaged and needs to be repaired. He also has out of pocket medical bills and other related expenses.
On October 24th, there is a fund raiser for Doug being held at George & Wendy's Corner Grill located at 2499 Periwinkle Way, from 1 to 4 pm.
