Hello Everyone,
My name is Danny Trevino and most of you know I have been trying to bring RC back to Tucson for 2 years now as we have to drive 1.5-2hrs just to practice and haven't had anywhere since the closure of Hobby Town and Competition Hobbies. Unfortunately, the first location did not work out, so I went through a year-long process with Pima County Parks and Rec and landed a great location with a clean restroom...Ted Walker Park! This was once a park with soccer and baseball fields covering 5 acres! This new location has great potential to be a new home for offroad RC racing! This project has been funded by myself and my son D'Andre with little donations here and there from the RC community, but there's still a long way to go to be at full operating mode! Below is a list of things still needed so we can get closer to opening and fully operational...we will have 3 tracks: 1. Dirt Oval 2. 1/10 offroad track 3. 1/8, 1/5 offroad track:
- Dirt / clay for the track (we need a minimum of 40 truckloads for the 1/8 track alone)
- Lighting and poles
- Sound system, speakers, microphones, etc.
- Track build
- Equipment rental: gannon, skid steer, compact roller, and golf cart
- Piping, stakes, tools for track (we have for offroad 1/8 but need for 1/10 and oval)
- Computer, printer, and TVs for scoring and TV mounts
- Cameras
- Material for driver stands, pit lane, director's booth, and shaded pit area
- Warmup and staging tables
- Hoses and sprayers
- Tools: brooms, shovels, hammers, etc.
- Pit lane accessories
- Banners and signage
- 2nd sewage pump
Please reach out if you have any connections that would be helpful or if you’re interested in sponsorship. We are a great community of racers and together we can make this facility one of the best in the southwest.
Thank you
