D&D Fuhrman House Fire, Lee Summit, MO
November 7, 2016, was the tragic day in the lives of Dennis & Diane Fuhrman. The house that they had raised their two sons and daughter in and shared for 40 years was lost in a fire. They were fortunate they were both able to get out safely, but unfortunately, they lost everything but for the clothes they had on at the time.
Diane and Dennis were married in Warner, SD in March of 1966, and just celebrated their 50th anniversary this last March with family and friends.
Dennis served in the U.S. Air Force, worked in the insurance business for 30 years; has been serving the Lee Summit community on the public safety board for 30 years; helped organize “One Good Meal” in 1996: organized ten teams for 6 trips to Mississippi during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina for Habitat for Humanity; current member of the Kansas City Metro Men’s Chorus for the last 14 years; church council, council president for three terms, and is still active in the church choir, and both continue as ushers at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, where they have been members since 1978. Diane worked in the medical field for many years, then had a day care in her home for a number of years, being a second grandma to many of the children she cared for.
To add insult to injury, on November 19, 2016, Diane fell broke her hip and requires surgery. They are living in a hotel at this time awaiting the insurance adjuster. It will be at least nine months before they have a home again and their present expenses continue to mount.
Dennis and Diane have bene great role models for their family and many friends. They are so very grateful for the care and concern they have been shown since the fire took their home. They have always been the givers, not the receivers!
As we approach this holiday season, lets come together to support Dennis & Diane in whatever way we can. If you are able to donate financially, please do so. Many thanks and please keep them in your prayers.
