This is our beautiful 12 year old son, Peter III. Some of his favorite activities include playing video games (Minecraft and Roblox are his favorites), playing with–and fighting with–his little brother, Gianni, and making us laugh with his silly demeanor! He also loves music, riding his electric scooter, and watching his favorite YouTubers.
Unfortunately, Peter also has his share of difficulties due to having severe ADHD and being on the Autism Spectrum. Sadly, he has an even bigger battle looming ahead of him this year…
After a month of worsening headaches and eventually being unable to raise his head from looking down, an MRI discovered a golf ball sized tumor in the lower left quadrant of his brain. Four days later, Peter underwent a Craniotomy to remove the mass.To the astonishment of his entire team of doctors and nurses, Peter walked out the hospital 2 days later, as if nothing happened. He's always been such a strong, tough little guy!
That strength will be needed now more than ever because yes, the surgery successfully removed the entire tumor, thank the Good Lord! However, the real battle has just begun.
Peter has been diagnosed with brain cancer, specifically Medulloblastoma. He has already had to undergo Radiation and weekly chemo treatments. The "Big Chemo" is starting in October, which he'll have to endure for an entire year. Peter's days are no longer filled with careless, innocent thoughts. Instead he has lost all of his energy, in addition to his beautiful red hair, and deals with painful side effects daily. It's heartbreaking for his father and I to watch.
I remember the day of Peter's doctor appointment when he found out he had to get The MRI, he asked, "Momma, are there kids staying at the hospital that have things that could kill them?" I said, "Unfortunately, yes honey. Isn't that sad?" To which Peter replied indignantly, "Yeah. It's like they didn't even get the chance to live!" That conversation now haunts this mother daily...
Please help our amazing boy during the biggest battle of his little life thus far. We will be using any money we receive towards the medical bills which will no doubt be coming soon. Our family appreciates any and all support. More than anything, we just wanted to get our son, Peter's, story out there because this courageous warrior deserves to have his story told.
