I’m establishing this Go Fund Me to help with the sudden cost of Medical bills, move, and caregiving needed post-hospital stay.

Pam Stokes is an Orcas Island resident of many years and has grown up in Washington State. She had a stroke that unmasked stage 4 lung cancer that has metastasized to her brain. A few days after discharge she began working on her strength and mobility left from her stroke, when suddenly she had another. Due to both strokes she ended up losing a lot of the strength in her hands and is unable to walk or feed herself without assistance.

Prior to this Pam had a sudden change in careers and lost her medical insurance. Her family is attempting to apply for Medicaid but have been met with challenges with obtaining information required to apply and authorizations for information needed as they have no power of attorney or written authorization to handle what she needs. Her mental state is such that the notary is unable to get such forms and the family will need a lawyer to help her further. She will also need assistance after the hospital that may require a caregiver and heaven forbid end-of-life care and funeral expenses. Pam is now on life support and is being made as comfortable as possible.
