Hi. My name is Jim. I have been renting a 4 bedroom apt for 15 years. The building that I am living in was sold 6 years ago. Ever since the new owner took over, I have had nothing but issues. First, The roof has been leaking for 5 of those years in my Living room and dining room. I being a roofer for the past 25 years tried to fix the leaks. It is a very low slope roof that had shingles. each time I tried to fix the roof. It would still leak. I told the owner that the whole roof needs to be replace. After 5 years of it leaking, The owner finally decide to rcallin a Roofing company to replace the whole roof. As the Jobs is near completed, The owner looked at me and said, I should have fixed this issue 5 years ago. Second. Last year the Owner Hired a Building management group to take care of the Building. The heat was not turned on till October 28/2024. After I sent in a few complaints about how cold it was in My apartment. Third. I mentioned that before you turn the heat on. Please make sure that the furnace filter is changed and that the ducts and heat vents needs to be cleaned as for they were not cleaned for the time I was living there. The owner told me to use a wet-dry vacuum to clean my vents as for He did not want to damage the new furnace that was installed a few years back. Forth. Then the owner decided to build a small 1 bedroom Apt in the attic right above 3 of my bedrooms 2 years ago. I asked the Owner that make sure you insulate the floors as for if the floors are not insulated up to code that there will be issues with noise from Me The Contractor that was building the 1 bedroom apt gave me a tour. I noticed right of hand that there was no insulation installed. Now when tenants move in. It has been very loud with heavy walking and banging. The tenant that is there now since last fall has been very loud. I have complained to The owner and The Property management group many times. To this day, The issue with the tenant is still very loun right up to 3am. I have many recordings of the noise. either the Owner or the property management group has done nothing to solve this issue. I even called 311 and they said they can not help. Myself and my 3 other tenants got so furious the we held back 2 months rent. Now the Owner wants to Evict me as for I am the lease holder. I should have taken action different Now that I found out that holding back rent was a bad move on my part. My goal now is seeing if I could get support from The gofundme so I can take the right steps and take action against the owner. My Conviction date is feburary 25/2025.I am asking to see if I can do a payment plan. At the moment I am on Goverment assistance till I can get back to work in Spring as I work outside.from spring till fall. Then I can start paying back the back rent. Update... I made a payment arrangement with {LTB] until the back rent is paid..
