We have a doctoral student at Auburn University pursuing a degree in Career and Technical Education. As with all graduate students, money is tight, but this student has unique circumstances that add extra financial strain. He and his wife had a beautiful baby boy, Wisdom, who was born at just 23 weeks. With such an early birth came complications, medical bills, long-term care and many doctor’s appointments. After fighting for months in the NICU, Wisdom and his parents were finally able to return to Auburn as a family. When Wisdom was about 1 ½, mom and baby then returned home to Africa after mom's graduation from Auburn University to be reunited with family. However, Wisdom’s medical condition worsened, and they returned to the United States for better medical care. After returning, Wisdom was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. His condition requires regular trips to Birmingham, Alabama, for doctor’s appointments and he also requires a specialized stroller. Due to these regular trips to Birmingham, specialized equipment, and limited family resources while the student is finishing his degree, we would like to raise enough money to fix the family vehicle, making it safe and reliable for travel to Wisdom’s doctor’s appointments. Any extra money would go to gas, insurance, maintenance, and Wisdom’s care. Thank you for any support you can provide.
