Public Policy Internship-Child Advocacy
Donation protected

The program is organized through The Fund for American Studies, a non-profit that provides students with the opportunity to intern and take courses in Washington, D.C. The total cost of the program is $14,900. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to receive scholarships which leaves me with $2,000 left to pay for tuition before July 1, 2014.

After completing the program, I will receive 12 credits that will be applied to my transcript. I will be taking Constitutional Interpretation, Economic Problems and Public Policies, and an Internship Seminar. I will have a guaranteed internship. Students who have participated in the program interned with members of Congress, American Legislative Exchange Council, Children’s Rights Council, etc.
I always say: "I know I definitely want to practice law, but I also want to change laws in regards to child advocacy". I still haven't found the career path that leads me to this dream. I know this program will help to steer me into the right direction. Given that I am very close to graduation, I need to figure this out. Before I started attending Agnes Scott, I was sure that I wanted to be an attorney. I was fortunate enough to meet Senator Jason Carter who gave me a contact at Voices for Georgia's Children. This past year, I have interned directly under a lobbyist. I even had the opportunity to lobby Senators and Representatives. During this past year, I realized that I may have a a passion for public policy in regards to child advocacy. This program is in D.C., the best place to be for public policy issues. I will receive a hands-on experience that will let me know whether or not I actually want to pursue a career in public policy. I need to attend this program because I will not be offered this same opportunity in Atlanta. I have talked to many organizations, Senators, etc. to receive advice on my career desires. They all stated that this D.C. program will be very beneficial. This program will jumpstart my career in public policy. I am hoping that you can understand the importance of this program and donate to my fund.
