Ride for Oxfam
Donation protected
Hello friends and viewers,
In about two weeks I will be biking from DC to Pittsburgh, PA (330 miles); and I would like to use this as an opportunity to raise money for a good cause. Thus, I am launching this campaign and will give all proceeds to Oxfam, a British organisation fighting to end poverty.
Why end poverty? There are plenty of causes out there, and many of them have huge publicity, but not all affect so many, so much. Ending poverty means lifting billions of people out of misery, positively improving the futures of countless more, and preventing a host of problems from crime to disease which can come as a consequence of being poor.
The price-tag for this is hefty, and some have estimated that the world needs $175 billion dollars a year–for twenty years–to fully end extreme poverty. This is a lot, but it would also do a lot of good. Please make a contribution to this fund as anything counts.
Why Oxfam? The group is one of the most respected among those fighting to end extreme poverty, with operations in more than 90 countries, and has a long-term vision that many others lack. Donations will be used for both emergency programs and things like education and empowerment, which help people have a long-term way to rise.
Please donate to this fund, as any money counts. I will give all proceeds to Oxfam, and they will do their best so that the money is used correctly.
Thank you,
Maxime
