DCP Heal up!

Hi friends, Megs here-
As most of you know my husband (DCP) suffered a catastrophic injury to his neck snowboarding on March 7th.
He narrowly escaped paralysis and worse, and I AM SO THANKFUL HE CAME HOME to me and our kids.
I'm reaching out to request financial support for the medical costs incurred and his ongoing treatment.
And with any spinal injury and the complexities of our individual neurological systems, we still have a road ahead.

Thank you to everyone who has shown up in all ways, and reached out with love, words of wisdom and strength. We love and appreciate you beyond words.
Here is the full story:

On Sunday, March 6th, David was doing what he loves most on his snowboard and was free riding with a crew he loves near Revelstoke, B.C.
They were on day 3 of a successful film trip with helicopter access when the day was cut short after David stepped up to a steep line but found himself at the wrong place at the entrance. As soon as he got into it, the conditions revealed themselves to be different than expected and David found himself surrounded by icy spines with rock heads sticking out. He tried to quickly reroute but wasn’t successful and violently tumbled through a steep rocky space and miraculously did not hit his head, and thankfully survived with (only) a broken neck.
I say only as most everyone in my world knows how powerful it is every time someone can come home safe out of the mountains.

When David arrived by ambulance at the nearest hospital in the middle of B.C., a CT scan revealed he had a shattered C6 and dislocated C7, and a bruise on his spinal cord- and there just so happened to be a confident neurologist surgeon on hand.
After a long 90 hours of unknown, David received a successful surgery in Kamloops where they were able to fix the vertebrae with titanium hardware and David was put into a cervical collar which he has had on for the last 6 weeks. With patience, discipline and lots of therapy David will one day continue to do the things he loves with his children, with me, and with his loved ones and friends.

Relief and gratitude are understatements right now as the path to healing is illuminated.

For any of you who know DCP, his will, strength and now a commitment to self are strong. Interestingly enough, he has spent the last 2 years ‘training’ for something like this with incredible mentors here in Costa Rica. Daily meditations, breathwork, and strength training are all able to support his body and mind in handling a severe injury like this.
And even now with severe muscle atrophy, he is indeed on the road to recovery.

Although it was a gift he happened to be at home in Canada with more 'affordable' medical care- we have lingering and additional medical costs and are still facing a long road of recovery and some unknowns as we navigate to the right therapists and healers who can support David back to alignment and strength, and to a new way of mobility and movement in his spine and body.
Ultimately getting him back to doing the things he loves outdoors with the people he loves.

For those of you who have requested and would like a space to donate funding, here it is.

To those of you who have and continue to show up in a multitude of ways- THANK YOU. WE LOVE YOU.

Updates on Davids's progress will follow here- expect good things.

IMMENSE GRATITUDE and
LIMITLESS LOVE

Take care of yourselves and your loved ones everyone
Much love,
Megs
