Hello, my name is Omar Alvarez. I am an eighth grader who attends Ceiba College Preparatory Academy in Watsonville, Ca. I started this Gofundme campaign to help raise enough money to participate in my school's 8th grade trip to Washington D.C. and New York City during spring break.
During the last few months, our family has been through many financial troubles. My mom is the sole provider for our family of six. She works two jobs to make ends meet. She wanted to provide me with this opportunity because she knows how hardworking of a student I am, but cannot make our payments anymore. I am grateful for all she has done for me. However, I have been doing my best to help her by fundraised on my own, with my school, and even applying for scholarships. Unfortunately, the money I have fundraised and scholarships I have received will not cover the entire cost of the trip.
By helping me attend this trip, your donation will help cover the cost of my roundtrip airfare, hotel, meals, and admissions to multiple museums. If I attend this trip I will be able to see the U.S Capitol, and the Supreme Court. This will help me see where my future can go. When I graduate college I want to become a lawyer. Seeing these places in person will help me experience what my future could look like. This will not only inspire me to achieve my dreams, but it will help me continue to be a straight-A student, go to my dream university, and create a better life for myself and my family.
This will be my first time traveling out of state and I will get to experience more of our country. This year I am studying U.S. History and this will also help me understand how America became the place it is today. Being able to view the Declaration of Independence will add a whole new feeling to my experience learning about it in class.
If I attend I’ll also get to have the once in a lifetime experience of seeing a Broadway musical! This would be an incredible experience because I am in my school’s theatre club. We recently just put on our first production of the year, “Into the Woods.” I was given the privilege of playing Jack.
I can only imagine what a trip like this will mean for me! I want to be able to experience our nation's Capital and see the statue of Liberty. This will not only change me as a person but will add a whole new perspective to the importance of my history class and preparing for my future career. Helping to fund my trip will also ease my mother who works hard to raise my family. She has been really worried about making sure our family is taken care of and this trip has become too much of a financial burden for her to pay for alone. This is why I am hoping someone like you will help me. My mother and I would be beyond grateful for any donation that you can give to help make this trip possible for me.
Thank you all for taking the time to read my story and consider making a donation. If you cannot make a donation, I understand. However, there is one more thing you can do to help me! Please share my Gofundme campaign with your friends, relatives, and coworkers.
