Thank you for taking the time to open this post to read. My name is Karen and I am a mother of 4 children, one of whom was recently diagnosed with Generalized Epilepsy. My son is my world. He is 12 y/o and an otherwise healthy young man. He recently had 5 seizures within the past 3 weeks. Prior to these incidents, he had undiagnosed absence seizures (we learned this after the fact). Unfortunately, despite being on medications, he continues to have absence seizures. Given these circumstances, we have to maintain constant supervision of him, which has affected our ability to work consistently. Both my husband and I have had to take leave without pay to care for our son. Additionally, the unexpected medical bills have caused us to be financially unstable. I know everyone has stuff going on and their own bills to pay, so we understand if donating is unrealistic for you and your families. I just didn’t know what else to do to ease some of the stress in our home. I’m ashamed to even ask or acknowledge our private struggles.
