CALLING ALL ANGELS!

Hi my name is Margo Meeker, I'm writing this on behalf of Rosalind Hyman (Roz) my dear friend of over thirty years.

Just a few days ago, Roz's world was completely turned upside down when she suffered an unexpected medical emergency. Roz took herself to the hospital because her boss insisted that she might be having a mild stroke as it appeared Roz was struggling to walk, and her speech seemed "off." Nothing could prepare Roz for the news she received when the doctor told her that the endometrial cancer, that she had been so valiantly fighting these past two years, had metastasized to her brain! Imagine being told on Thursday that you will be having brain surgery the following Monday to remove a life-threatening brain tumor! Roz was immediately transferred the next day from her local hospital to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest to undergo the surgery!

Having to face this dire diagnosis alone as a senior citizen is frightening enough, however, her doctor's informed us that she will be facing a long and expensive recovery! Roz has no family to help her through this challenging time and we, her friends, have gathered together to try and help, because Roz is the kind of friend who would do the same for us.

Roz will be unable to work for an unknown extended period of time and will need round-the-clock care and rehabilitation. Like so many seniors, her cancer impacted her ability to work full time and what little savings she had, had been already depleted by her cancer diagnosis. Roz now lives paycheck to paycheck. She has no safety net, or anything put away for a rainy day. Without help, she and her beloved kitty Grigia, could lose their apartment and become homeless!

Roz has worked hard all of her life, often working two or three jobs to make ends meet. She has never asked for help and has always been as generous toward others as she was able to afford.

It is heartbreaking to see someone so hard working, kind, giving and once independent, struck down by cancer.

Any donation - no matter the size- will be greatly appreciated to keep her roof over her head and pay for any additional living expenses and medical expenses not covered by her insurance.
