My son Eric has written this message for the donation page:

To anyone who may not yet have heard the news, my father, Paul Hestand, has died following a very unexpected hospital trip. My father experienced a major stroke near the brain stem. The pressure built up too high and cut off his brain from his body, leaving him effectively brain dead. We will be with him when he passes peacefully, a decision near impossible to make.
As you are all aware, Paul was a father to Jason and myself. Not only that, but my grandparents lost a son. My uncles lost a brother. His friends lost a friend. And his fiancé lost a loved one
What has happened is beyond comprehension and we are all still in shock. Understandably the family is struggling to cope, so we are stepping in to help with organising Paul's hospital expenses and after death costs.
We have already had numerous messages from people asking how to help, so this campaign has been created as a way to keep everyone up-to-date with plans, and also offer a place for messages and donations to be left.
