Courage for Colin

I've always been a believer that we're never given more than we can bare. Not questioning what has happened to my family but still trying to process and understand THIS is not a horrible dream I can wake up from. I never thought that my new normal would include the dreaded C word....Cancer. On November 17, 2016 I delivered Colin, who appeared to be a healthy 8lb.12oz baby boy. Three and a half weeks later on December 13, 2016 my Colin was diagnosed with Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Colin is considered VERY HIGH RISK due to his young age of only 3 weeks old. ALL most commonly occurs in children ages 3-5 years old. What started as a normal three week infant well check up at my pediatricians office has turned into the Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital being Colin's, myself and my husbands home for the next couple of months. Our new normal is taking a toll on my family in more ways than just emotionally. Colin has an extremely tough & long journey ahead of him and we've created this campaign for anyone who would like to help lighten our load. Currently I have dedicated all of my time to be by my little fighters side which has started to adversely impact my ability to work. This unexpected diagnosis will come with an additional burden other than the emotional and physical toll it has taken. The medical bills will not cease.
