Midas' Medical Funds
Donation protected
My name is Lisa and I am fundraising to help with medical bills for my sweet boy, Midas. We love him dearly. He's been a part of my chosen family for the better part of 13 years now and, simply put, I cannot imagine the world without him.
His vibrant personality, adoringly affectionate nature and odd quirks had my heart captured from day one as I scooped him up as a scrappy young kitten. It's been a whole lot of wild, unconditional love ever since. An inseparable bond.
This year, however, started out rough for Midas. He's been in and out of the vet with breathing issues, the cause still unknown, enduring a variety of tests that resulted in three separate rounds of anti-botics since January with little improvement. It was evident this was due to a respiratory infection (wheezy breathing, sneezing fits and quacking) determined by x-ray. His breathing was labored and sounded wet. (Imagine your dad with a terrible headcold.) This led to a loss of appetite, decreased energy levels and increased daily naps (8+ hours). Even with medication, symptoms persisted and only got worse over time. Secretions from the eyes and nose were consistent. At first, his nose was oozing only pus but now it remains bloody and sore, blocking his nasal passages and affecting his ability to breathe. We were told this could mean any number of things, (from obstruction to cancer) but we won't properly know until more extensive testing can be done. The next steps would be more bloodwork and a CT scan with possible biopsy, for which he will need to be under sedation. Quotes for these procedures are, unfortunately, quite expensive; CT/bloodwork being the bare minimum at $3500 - $5000 and, if we find nothing, a possible $2100 for the more invasive biopsy. This is all on top of the $1300 already spent on vet appointments, medication and the first visit to the hospital.
This is something that I cannot afford. Any help towards the costs of care for this sweet little man is deeply appreciated, however big or small. Please consider sharing with your networks and communities where possible. Thank you for taking the time to read about my dear child. Thank you for your support.
