Supporting Amanda

Hi, my name is Andressa and I am fundraising for our dear friend Amanda.

Amanda has breast cancer and could use our support.

She is undergoing surgery next week and there are some parts of the reconstruction that are considered cosmetic and not covered by MSP.

There will also be a long recovery period and some therapeutic supports which are also private pay.

I thought this would be a good opportunity for her friends and family who can't be there physically and emotionally to support her in this way.

As some of you know, Amanda pays her rent by supporting others.

Facilitating women's groups, coaching and compassionate care aid jobs.

Being self-employed, she doesn't have the option to go on EI or medical leave.

This is a chance for her to receive the support that she abundantly gives to others.

There is a meal train set up to support her for the first couple of weeks after surgery. A few months of rent would help to ease the burden so she doesn't need to jump back into work before she has recovered physically and emotionally.

If you are able to help with any amount, I know that she would deeply appreciate it, despite the discomfort she has with receiving support.

We don't know how what the post-surgical treatment plan is as of yet but there is a good chance there will be a period of radiation and or other treatments following.
