Stephen's medical journey

Donation protected
My name is Stephen; I grew up in Southern Manitoba. As a young adult I enjoyed partying and drinking. I continued this life style throughout my life, taking breaks once in a while and exercising regularly. I was not aware of the toll on my body until I was 43 and dying of liver failure. I used alcohol anonymous and mind life hypnotism to quit Drinking as I didn't want to drink anymore. It was too late by then. On May 28th 2023 I was rushed to the hospital at St. Boniface and intubated. I needed a liver transplant and was slowly dying. With the help of St Boniface staff, I was healthy enough for a liver transplant that I received in Toronto General Hospital. After another 4 months in Health Science Center and Rehabilitation I was strong enough to walk with a walker and return home for Christmas. My wife worked tirelessly to help pay all our bills and apply for disability benefits. After leaving the hospital I had to continuing kidney dialysis at HSC until I was strong enough to go to Selkirk hospital for kidney dialysis 3 times a week. I began having small seizures during dialysis and was put on medication. I was finally released to go to Selkirk hospital for dialysis. I was on the way to recover walking without a walker when I began fainting. I fell and needed 7 stitches in my knee. The leg got infected and my fainting spells continued. The medication prescribed was not helping and the infection was getting worse. I was taken to Selkirk hospital where I stayed for 2.5 months getting IV antibiotics for my infection. Waiting for the fainting to stop and learning how to walk again. We learned in the hospital that we got denied disability benefits and needed more information to appeal the decision. I now am still dealing with dizziness waiting to see a specialist that can take another year to get another appointment with. Waiting on the appeal for disability benefits. Our bills are piling up as well as our home repairs. With the cost of living, my medication and gas for my 3 trips a week to dialysis we are soon not going to be able to afford to live. I want to use my TikTok account to spread the truth about alcohol and its effects on the body, positive attitude for healing, my story, and my GoFundMe plus other life stories I can share to spread happiness and joy through the world. Thank you for any support you can help me with, even just sharing my GoFundMe or following my TikTok account. God's blessings to you and thank you once again for your time.

The money raised will help support me with my medical bills, medication, gas and transportation to dialysis as well as living expenses. If I am so blessed as to receive a kidney transplant, I want to continue growing vegetables, fruits and various greens in my greenhouse to help support others with being able to eat fresh locally grown produce for less cost than store bought. Plus share my positive attitude and life lessons to help others in their own life struggles. We all need each other to help survive in life.
