Dayton's Road to Recovery: Your Help Needed

Donation protected
Many of you know Dayton & his family and have witnessed his incredible strength through his ongoing health struggles. In October of 2022, Dayton was diagnosed with diverticulitis. After surgery to address the condition, he faced severe complications that led to 10 additional surgeries, almost costing him his life. Despite these challenges, God gave him more time and healing. Dayton spent the next 8 months in the hospital fighting to survive and rehabbing.

In October of 2023, Dayton underwent another surgery to hopefully repair all of the damage. However, after two months of recovery, his body began to shut down, leading to multiple organ failure. He stopped breathing and was unconscious for over a week. Miraculously, with God's intervention and the expertise of his medical team, Dayton fought his way back. When he "woke up" on his birthday, he was on a ventilator and unable to walk, talk, or move due to the extensive damage to his body. Over the next 9 months, he continued his fight for recovery in the hospital , regaining strength day by day.

We are overjoyed to share that Dayton was released from the hospital in August and is now home with his family. He is now eating on his own and no longer requires iv nutrition. While he's made incredible progress, his body is still severely damaged, and he will likely never fully recover. He continues to struggle with ongoing health issues, including leaking intestines.

Dayton has always been committed to serving his community, dedicating much of his life to helping others. He worked as a missionary in his early years and spent 20 years with the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Georgia, where he touched countless lives. Unfortunately, Dayton’s health has left him unable to work, placing a significant financial strain on his family. While he had great benefits and was well cared for by the Boys & Girls Club, even the best insurance doesn’t cover everything, and the two-year battle has left Dayton with mounting medical bills and cost of living expenses from traveling back and forth to Jacksonville for care. His family traveled daily to be by his side during his fight and never spent time in the hospital without someone by his side.

As we approach the holiday season, let’s come together to bless Dayton. Please share a quick word of encouragement or story of how he has touched your life (tag him or Emma in a post). If you are able please bless his family with a financial gift to help ease their burden. Your support means the world to them, and any contribution will make a difference.

Thank you for your generosity and love.
