Claire is a devoted Filipino immigrant nurse who has spent the last three years in the United States caring for others, working night shifts, serving patients with compassion, and providing for her family. Recently, her life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma of the breast, an aggressive cancer that requires immediate and intensive treatment.

Claire is a loving mother of two and the primary provider for her family. After recently relocating from Florida to California in search of a better future, she found herself facing an unexpected hardship. Because she has not yet met California’s residency requirements, she does not qualify for state disability benefits, and Florida does not offer mandatory disability insurance leaving her without financial protection during this medical crisis.

Her husband is currently unable to work as he waits to receive his massage therapy license in California. Claire’s chemotherapy begins January 15 and will last six months, followed by surgery and radiation therapy. The intensity of treatment will significantly impact her ability to continue working night shifts, putting their family’s sole source of income in jeopardy.

Despite the fear and uncertainty, Claire remains anchored in her faith, trusting God even in the storm. This season, however, has placed tremendous emotional, physical, and financial strain on their family, especially during the holidays.
