Hello. My name is Scott Steel and I am setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of my wife, Dayna Steel. For those of you who know us, you know that Dayna was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) back in 2008. This has been very challenging for her. She has mobility issues and uses a cane to get around, full body numbness, and chronic pain with this disease.

We found out in December 2024 that Dayna has a cancerous brain tumor called a low-grade glioma. She is scheduled to have a craniotomy on May 5, 2025, in Iowa City, IA, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. But, through the loving counsel of our family and friends, we decided to get a second opinion and will be flying out to Seattle, WA, on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

We will be going to Swedish Neurology Cherry Hills Campus on March 26 to speak with a neurosurgeon. That’s all we know at this point. We don’t really know how long we’ll be out there. It could be a week, or it could be a month or even longer. We don’t know if she is going to have the surgery out there or if we will be coming back to Iowa to have the surgery. Everything is just kind of up in the air right now.

Most of you probably know by now that Dayna and I are both disabled and live totally on Social Security disability. We do have Medicare, but not Medicaid, so any help would be gratefully appreciated. We’ve never been in a situation like this before, so this is new territory. I expect that brain surgery will be very costly. We will be living with our son, Nic, and his family while we are in Washington. They have been so generous as to offer up their home to us for as long as we need. Dayna will most likely be undergoing chemotherapy once the surgery has taken place, and our kids are really pushing for us to make a move to Seattle. This is also where funding is needed.
