I am helping my daughter, Dayna, promote this with my Facebook account - thanks everyone!
Hello! My name's Dayna Van Dyke and I have been dancing for 12 years. When I was 12 years old I decided to focus on ballet and began taking classes at Montana Ballet Company in Bozeman, Montana. I now dance 8-10 hourse of ballet a week in addition to rehearsals for upcoming productions. I am a junior at Manhattan High School with a 3.5 GPA; I also volunteer in my school and my church.
Since ballet is not a school-funded sport/activity, all expenses are paid by me and my family. From year-round classes to summer intensives and everything in between, ballet can get pretty expensive. I have already attended three out-of-state summer intensives and annually attend my home studio's summer intensive. This year, I hope to attend Ballet West's 6-week summer intensive in Salt Lake City. Funds that I earn will go towards tution, room and board, pointe shoes, and other necessities. I am working part-time and I am looking for another job to earn a little more before I leave and I have already recieved $1600 in scholarships. These scholarships are very limited, so I've pretty much exhausted that resource. Also, because of limited program-funding, I did not qualify for any financial aid.
I am really looking forward to my summer training and furthering my education. With this being my last summer before graduation, the training I receive and connections I make are very important; every bit of it is a stepping stone toward my future dream of dancing professionally with a ballet company. I will be auditioning for companies (for employment after graduation) as early as November. Ballet means so much to me and no matter what I end up doing in my life, I'll always be involved with dance.
My payments to Ballet West are due in full by May 1st, so anything helps! No matter how big or small your donation is, I will be so grateful for your generosity and kindness. Thank You!
