My name is Doris Ryder, and I am the founder of the Planting of Seeds Mentoring Program. This mission is not just something I care about—it is my life’s story.
I am the mother of two incredible sons on the autism spectrum. When my oldest son, David Ryder Jr., was young, he could not speak. He communicated only by pointing and required weekly speech therapy. Those early years were filled with uncertainty, fear, and prayer. The journey was difficult, but with the help of dedicated professionals, mentors, and a supportive community, David found his voice.
My younger son, Denzel Ryder, was diagnosed at just three years old. I watched my baby struggle with limited eye contact, repetitive behaviors, isolation from other children, and intense tantrums that could last for hours. As a parent, there is nothing more painful than wanting to help your child and feeling helpless.
But help came.
Through patience, faith, guidance, and access to the right support, my sons grew into who they are today. David is now an up-and-coming fashion designer. Denzel is a DJ with confidence and passion. Their diagnoses did not define them—support did.
That is why I started the Planting of Seeds Mentoring Program, LLC.
I know firsthand that children do not succeed simply because they have potential. They succeed when someone invests in them, believes in them, and walks beside them. Unfortunately, too many children—especially during afterschool hours and the summer months—lack safe spaces, positive role models, and consistent mentorship. Too many are overlooked, unsupported, or left to navigate life alone.
Planting of Seeds exists to change that.
Our program provides a safe, faith-based, nurturing environment where children are encouraged, seen, and valued. We focus on mentorship that goes beyond activities—mentorship that builds confidence, strengthens character, nurtures faith, and helps children believe in their God-given purpose. Through Bible-based instruction, structured play, creative expression, and educational experiences, we plant seeds that can last a lifetime.
In partnership with Greater Cathedral United Apostolic Ministries (GCUAM), we are launching a GoFundMe campaign to support our Summer Camp and Afterschool Program. This program will serve children ages 6–14, offering them a Christ-centered space where they can grow spiritually, emotionally, socially, and personally.
