Hi everyone,
Asking for help is an extremely hard thing for me to do. However I can’t allow my shame and embarrassment to hinder me from doing what I can to help our family.
We have faced some extremely challenging setbacks this year that have led up to where we are currently. My partners vehicle was totaled the day after our daughter was born 3 months ago and had lapsed in insurance the day before so we were unable to replace it.
Therefore my partner could no longer work the hours he needed to in order to provide for our family due to lack of transportation with his work being almost an hour away.
We’ve both been consistently looking for other work opportunities close to home. I’ve gone back to doing hair 2 days a week but it’s no where near what we need to survive nor be able to place our daughter in childcare so that I can work more.
We’ve tried resources that we knew were available to us. I got accepted for utility help through the state and found out that it was all paid to an old bge account my former roommate left a ton of debt on therefore I was unable to receive that assistance and it was a once a year grant so I can’t reapply.
Currently we’re at risk of having electricity shut off but we also have no idea how to make our rent for next month until my partner can find another job. This all coming at the worst month of the year with us not knowing if we will have a house for our children let alone presents to give them for Christmas.
Any help is extremely appreciated. We don’t have much support as far as family goes and have exhausted all of our options at this time.
