Daxton Funkhouser’s NICU Journey

Hello! My name is Bailey & I am starting this page for my brother and his wife, Ben & Natalie Funkhouser. Their little boy Daxton was born on 10/10/24 at 37 weeks and was doing good. He needed a little breathing support for a while but was able to get off support on Friday, 10/11, and all looked as if everything was fine. Later that afternoon on Friday, Daxton’s oxygen level kept dropping, and he needed breathing support again. At that time, he was sent via ambulance to the NICU at Sanford in Fargo. They have run many tests and found that he has a heart condition called Left Ventricular Noncompaction Cardiomyopathy. They are still running more tests, and he has started on a medication that they are hoping will help. At this time, they are unsure what the continuing plan will be with this newfound diagnosis. Natalie & Ben are driving back and forth from Dalton to Fargo every day to be with Daxton while also trying to spend time with their 3-year-old at home, Avery.

With all of their travel back and forth and not being able to work, the medical bills they are going to have, I would like to help them in any way I can. Our family unfortunately knows the NICU scene all too well, and with the help my husband and I have had in the past from a GoFundMe page, I felt this is the least I could do.
