- I
Hello! My name is Daxia Tilghman and I am weeks away from graduating from Howard University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality. This journey has been one of resilience, determination, and a commitment to using my education to create real change. During my time at Howard, I have run into obstacle after obstacle in funding my education. After my status was changed from dependent to independent student unexpectedly I could no longer depend on financial aid to cover the entirety of my tuition and bills. After months of fighting the school for my full financial aid award I am still $1000 dollars short from graduating on time. My graduation applications are due on April 18th and I must pay the last of bill in order to do so.
I aspire to attend law school in 2026, where I will focus on breaking down language barriers in legal services—ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, has access to justice. But before I can take that next step, I need to clear the final balance on my tuition.
I am raising $1,000 in the next 20 days to make my graduation a reality. Every dollar donated is not just an investment in my future but in the communities I will serve. The education I’ve earned at Howard has prepared me to uplift others, and with your support, I can cross this last hurdle.
If you believe in equity, education, and the power of giving back, I would be so grateful for your help. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings me closer to walking across that stage and into a career dedicated to justice and accessibility for all.
Thank you for being a part of my journey!
