Hello, this is Dax McCaig. He is a fun-loving, family-oriented, 18-year-old who is going to study computer science at Rolla; he moved into his dorms a little over two weeks ago.
Unfortunately, he had to drop his fall semester due to being placed back in the hospital on September 1st, where he was diagnosed with Necrotizing Pancreatitis, a severe form of pancreatitis where the pancreas tissue dies. He has been in the hospital off and on since July 18; this 5th hospitalization finally gave him a diagnosis, putting his family's lives on hold for a bit.
This illness can lead to serious complications, including infection, organ failure, and death. The surgeon has placed an NG tube and a drainage tube to help treat the disease and improve Dax's symptoms. Dax will need to stay in the hospital between 4-6 weeks.
This fund would be to help with lost wages from his mom, Melody, a single mother, missing work to stay with Dax while he heals. It will also go towards any medical bills and the costs associated with his family traveling back and forth to the hospital to assist Dax's mom with his ongoing care.
