Dawson’s Rehabilitation

I know a few of you have reached out wanting to help with Dawson and his recovery from SDR surgery he is having on August 14, 2020. After visiting with Dr. Park and with the Physical Therapy team, they have recommended a couple pieces of therapy equipment for use during and after his rehabilitation from SDR surgery. The first piece of equipment is a vibration plate machine by Hypervibe G14 and this is the more expensive of the two pieces of equipment, but provides the most useful therapy for him to help rebuild muscle strength.  If you have never heard of a vibration plate exercise machine, they are really cool but vary widely in price. Here is a link to check it out. https://www.hypervibe.com/us/hypervibe-g14-home/ There are two that Dr Park recommends and this one is one third the cost of the other one and is the one in their PT room. The second piece of equipment that they recommended is a basic home gym where he can work on building muscle strength with the use of the leg lift from the bench. Both of these pieces of equipment are used daily during his rehabilitation but are not started until 2 months Post-op. He is going to be casted in both legs once we return to Syracuse for 3 weeks and then he can begin his rehabilitation therapy, slow at first but more and more every day. Dr. Park and the team all expect to relieve ALL of the spasticity in his legs and expect him to fully walk on his own but he may require another surgery to lengthen his muscles by his ankles. This will be a long rehabilitation process but if everything is done properly, this little man will be able to walk and possibly run in a couple years!!!
