Dawn's Light: Help Her Shine Through Her Darkest Hour

Dawn is the kind of person who makes the world brighter simply by being in it. If you've ever had the privilege of knowing her, you know she's the first to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, or a warm embrace. She's the one who raises her hand first to help with food drives, comforts friends in need, and radiates unwavering positivity. She's the heart of our work community, the rock of her family, and the aunt who delights in Facetime with her young nephew.

For years, Dawn has been a beacon of strength and resilience. She's battled cancer not once, not twice, but now faces her third agonizing fight. She’s a warrior, having already endured the trauma of lung cancer, surgery to remove part of her lung, and the grueling toll of chemotherapy and radiation (x2). Even while navigating her own pain, she's never stopped caring for others, worrying about her coworkers, and earning multiple Employee of the Year awards for her dedication and unwavering spirit. She pours her whole heart into every role she plays, whether at work, with friends, or as the world's most devoted aunt.

But life has dealt Dawn a series of cruel blows. In the last seven years or so, she's suffered unimaginable losses: the passing of her beloved mother, the heartbreaking loss of her infant nephew, and a devastating car accident that left her injured and without transportation. And now, amidst the lingering effects of her previous cancer battle, she's facing yet another.

For the past month, Dawn has been unable to work due to the crushing pain and relentless medical appointments – tests, hospitalizations, biopsies, and the mounting bills that follow. She will need assistance to pay for COBRA insurance so she can continue her medical appointments and upcoming TBD treatment plan. She's still recovering from the financial strain of her previous cancer fight, where she had to take extended time off work due to the insurance and appointments taking too long to do surgery, allowing the cancer to spread quickly resulting in additional needed treatments. The weight of regular bills and medical expenses is becoming unbearable, adding a serious financial burden to her already overwhelming physical and emotional struggle.

Dawn has always been the giver, the supporter, the light in so many lives. She has supported many other fundraisers for people going through hardships, including cancer, food insecurity, and other needs. Now, it's our turn to be her light. She's given so much, and now she needs our help to focus on healing, to find strength, and to continue her fight.
