Dawn's Journey Through Cancer

If you are visiting this page, you are a friend, colleague, family, or believer and want to help Dawn. Whether you know her or not she would make you smile. She has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help others. She is a mother, sister and grandmother who just celebrated her 54th birthday recently.

Dawn needs our help to cover the cost of urgent medical needs. Two weeks ago, she received the devastating news that she has stage 4 lung cancer which traveled to several other areas. She has started cancer treatments which are necessary and unavoidable given the advanced stage she is in.

Dawn is well known for co-facilitating an effort with her sister that pulled the Portage community together to make “Kids Place” happen in 1998. It is a unique wooden playground in Crichton McCormick Park in Portage where she also organized spring cleanups and assisted in many fundraising efforts for the town and individuals. She was on the Summerfest committee for 9 years and as a partner of KNS productions she decorated many weddings, proms and other events for many people.

  

It is our turn to comfort Dawn, to help provide her care, and walk with her through this next challenging chapter

Dawn is a fighter, strong and relentless. So is the community that supports her. For those reasons, we are not going to talk about outcomes, risks, and probabilities. We are here to speak hope into life. We hope that her community rallies and grows. We hope for miracles in her recovery and miracles in the support that shows up for her as she needs our help. We hope Dawn gets the future she dreams of, and that you all are there to enjoy it with her.
