THANK YOU TO THE WONDERFUL MURRAY AVE SCHOOL COMMUNITY - A MURRAY PARENT IS A CATARACT SURGEON AND HAS AGREED TO HELP OUT DAWN - NO OTHER FUNDS ARE NOW NECESSARY. MANY, MANY THANKS!!
From the Murray Avenue School Parents and Community: The wonderful and special Miss Dawn has been a teacher’s aide at Murray for more than a dozen years. She is currently the aide in Ms. Baize’s class. Dawn is a legend at Murray and beloved by the kids. Wherever she goes you hear shouts of “Hi Miss Dawn”—even from those who have long graduated from the school, followed by: “We miss you Miss Dawn,” “How are you Miss Dawn,” and long discussions of how even the former Murray kids are doing. Dawn remains at school each and every day giving her all, but right now it is very hard for her.
Dawn has cataracts in both eyes so severe that she is close to functionally blind. She will be having her first surgery on the 11th of May, and a second as soon as possible after that. Unfortunately, she has no insurance coverage for her surgery and the cost will be about $10,000-$12,000 to cover the surgery, the hospital (even though outpatient), and the anesthesia costs.
Dawn has spent many years supporting the growth of hundreds (or thousands!) of Murray students. Now she is in need of help from the greater Murray community. Please help as you can and spread the word!
