Hi everyone! My name is Dawn, and I’m reaching out to ask for help raising money for my baby’s surgery.
A little backstory of my family dog, Marley:
We got Marley on March 26, 2016. She is a Shih Tzu–Yorkie mix, and the moment we first saw her, my family immediately fell in love. She was the tiniest, most precious puppy we had ever seen, so small she could fit right in the palm of our hands. At first, we thought she might be a teacup pup, and while that didn’t turn out to be the case, even nine years later she’s still our “teacup” in spirit. She’s a small dog with the biggest personality, and that little inside joke about her being our teacup has stayed with us all these years.
Marley has been by my side through thick and thin, ever since I was just 12 years old. She has grown with me through every chapter of my life, from my smallest to my biggest milestones. She has comforted me during my worst heartbreaks and celebrated with me during my happiest moments. She has truly been my shadow, my rock, and my best friend.
Marley is also one of the pickiest little dogs you’ll ever meet. She will only eat if we give her the “good” expensive food, and she has absolutely no shame in being spoiled. She has more toys than she probably needs, and she plays with them in the funniest, sassiest ways. One of my favorite things is watching her roll on her back, holding her toy proudly in the air as if she just won a trophy. I could talk about Marley for hours. She is such a good girl, and everyone who meets her falls in love with her, too.
Unfortunately, our lives were turned upside down this past Sunday at 10:28 PM. My sweet Marley, weighing no more than 15 pounds, was struck by an SUV in a devastating accident. The impact left her with multiple fractures from her pelvis down. The femoral head of her femur is completely out of the socket, currently free-floating inside her body. The surgery she needs is urgent, and she will also require physical therapy afterwards to help her learn how to walk again.
The estimated cost of her procedure is between $6,500 and $8,000, and that does not include the physical therapy or additional costs that may arise if there are complications.
As a newly enrolled sonography student, I am doing everything I can to juggle school and finances. I’ve already used what little savings I had left after paying for school, but sadly it is not nearly enough to cover these unexpected vet bills. This is why I am humbly turning to the kindness of others for help.
Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the absolute world to me and my family. Even $1, a simple share of this page, or keeping Marley in your prayers would help us more than words can describe. Every gesture of support lightens the heavy weight of this burden.
Marley has always been there for me. She has been my best friend, my comfort, my joy, and the one constant presence in my life since childhood. I can’t stand the thought of not having her here by my side, to keep making memories and to be there for the milestones yet to come.
Please, if you are able, help me save Marley. Together, we can give her the chance to live, heal, and return to the happy, sassy little soul she has always been. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping us fight for her.
With love,
Dawn & Marley ❤️
