On October 23rd my sister (Dawn-Rae) had open heart surgery to replace her mitral heart valve. Even though the surgery was successful, Dawn-Rae has experienced several physical and financial setbacks as a result of the valve replacement. She is currently back in the hospital and needs your help to get back on her feet this holiday season.
As you already know, Dawn-Rae's love for life, family, and friends is beyond comprehension. She always gives love and light to whomever is blessed enough to get to experience her bright personality. Dawn-Rae has two adult daughters, Camila and Kadeja, 17 year old daughter Kachelle, and her 15 year old son Al-Kareem Jr. and her two granddaughters Faith (7 years old) Amilliana (4 years old).
Our family, friends and community needs to gather together and support Dawn-Rae and these children during this transitional phase, so that Dawn-Rae can get back on her feet.
Many of you may not be aware that Dawn-Rae suffers from an autoimmune disease, microscopic polyangitis vasculitis. Dawn-Rae has suffered from the impacts of this disease for many years, and this autoimmune disease has taken a toll on her overall health. The vasculitis has caused kidney failure and congestive heart failure. Dawn-Rae receives dialysis three times a week with each session lasting five hours. All of her existing medical issues now coupled with open heart surgery have exhausted Dawn-Rae's financial resources. The countless medical appointments, surgeries, and time needed for healing have taken their financial toll.
Any contribution, no matter how big or small, will go a long way with Dawn-Rae and her family this holiday season.
All funds received will be used to allow Dawn-Rae to catch-up on rent, obtain groceries, and pay medical bills.
All of your support is appreciated and we are forever grateful for your prayers. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I truly hope you can find a way to help her during this hard time.
