Help Dawn After a Surgery & Pandemic Double Whammy
Donation protected
Two months ago, my good friend and colleague, Dawn Preisendorf, had an accident that resulted in a broken bone and torn tendon in her thumb, which required unplanned reconstructive surgery. For these past 8 weeks, Dawn’s hand has been completely immobilized in a cast and she is in quite a bit of pain. This has impacted everything in her life, especially because she runs her own small business as a functional nutritionist.* While she has finally gotten the cast replaced with a splint and begun physical therapy, her hand is still just in the beginning stages of recovery and it will be another 3 months (at the very least) until she will have full use of her hand again. The timing of Dawn’s accident/surgery with the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic has been a double-whammy and has been very hard on her financially.
Dawn hasn’t been able to do basic things like cooking or cleaning** and she has also tried to keep her business going despite her significantly reduced productivity from the immobility and pain. While she had saved a little money, it was not nearly enough to cover the $7000 insurance deductible for her surgery and healthcare, rehabilitation services, and probably 4-6 months of drastically reduced productivity and income.
Dawn is one of those people who always shows up for her friends, her family, and her clients. She is generous with her time and is always willing to lend a hand. Dawn’s just a profoundly good person and can always be counted on. She’s also very self-reliant, so it’s hard for her to ask for help like this, but this situation has been very difficult on her and she is really struggling.
I created this GoFundMe to raise $10,000 to help cover Dawn’s medical and rehabilitation expenses, and a small portion of her lost business income due to reduced productivity. Your donations will go a long way to help Dawn weather this time without going into massive medical debt and losing her business, which is her only source of income.
This pandemic has taught me a lot, but perhaps the most important thing is that it is time for us to come together and support each other. We truly are all in this together. Please help me support Dawn, someone who is always there for others and now needs and deserves some help herself.
Thank you!
Nina
