Dawn is the most courageous, passionate, caring, loving, strong, selfless person that I’ve ever known. She’s a hands on mother & grandmother, and treats her patients like family, a blessing to everyone whose heart she’s touched. She was hospitalized for a blood clot at the start of January and things soon began to decline soon after when she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. The necessary treatment she needed wasn’t being given at the first hospital that cared for her, so she was transferred by her family to JW hospital in Richmond due to a suspected brain bleed. This has been a mental struggle as it triggered a hematoma on her thigh that turned necrotic(when your tissue dies) due to lack of wound care at the first medical facility, and misdiagnosis. She’s since had 7 surgeries on her right thigh with more to come moving forward in order to reconstruct the damage. The cancer she has, Multiple Myeloma, is a form of bone cancer that doesn’t have “red flags” or warning signs. It spurs up in a matter of months after being dormant for some time, and can attack your bones, kidneys, and blood function. It’s been an emotional roller coaster for her 4 children and 14 grandchildren, as they are an extremely close knit family. The family describes her as “The Rock” that holds all of their bonds together. All of her children work together for a plan of mental support to be at the hospital with their mother day in and out. They are heavy in prayer and very positive that their mother will get through this because she’s a fighter. Moving forward financial assistance will be needed to help in getting her the cancer treatment that is needed for chemotherapy and other forms of therapy the oncologist has discussed. Dawn has worked 20 years in the nursing Field, and up until 1 day before being hospitalized she was a full time private care nurse. She has been so strong through the whole process and kind of blindsided by some of the medical findings, because she does do check ups for her health every 3 months. Some assistance is needed to maintain her home finances while she is being treated at the best facility in Richmond. Anything helps and thank you so much for your kindness and support of this family during such a hard time. Even if you cannot afford a donation, please add Dawn and her family to your prayer list and keep her in thought.
