Dawn Salyer our good friend here in Kearney, NE was recently diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Here is a message that David Salyer (husband) sent to our church body:
"The neurology specialist at UNMC in Omaha has diagnosed Dawn with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), sometimes known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS is a terrible, progressively debilitating disease without a known cure. This diagnosis has hit our family very hard.
We intend to seek a second opinion, and we pray this diagnosis is wrong. We are also aware that it may not be. Regardless, we intend to fight for every inch. We continue to trust God, even though we do not understand His way.
We have talked with the kids about it, but they don’t really understand. We will let them process it in their own way and we will answer them truthfully when they ask questions.
We know that you hurt with us. We know there are no words to say. We also know that you love Dawn and our family very much. We know that you are there for us."
As you all know, medical costs add up quickly and they may need to travel for possible treatments, etc. We also want to raise money so they can take a trip if they want, grab take-out, and have extra if possible even though medical costs could far exceed this.
We ask that you please donate to this precious family.
Thank you so much.
