OUR WHOLEHEARTED PLEA FOR HELP

To All Family, Friends, Colleagues, Coworkers, and Associates

Dawn Olinda “Genie” Hector Young beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin, and friend passed away on May 1, 2024 at the tender age of 59.

To all who knew Dawn aka “Genie” knew a woman who was the life of the party, no matter the event. Taking a quote from one of her friends who said, “There is never a dry eye or frown when she was around”. That is so true! She made everyone laugh so hard and her personality was as colorful as her multiple wigs.

Even struggling with Stage 4 Cancer for the past 2 years and been in and out of the hospital too many times to count. Dawn, still had a smile on her face and joy in her heart, she remained in good spirits and trusting God for victory.

She underwent a couple of surgeries to remove some of the affected areas, but the cancer was more aggressive and spread to her kidney, liver, and lungs. She underwent intense chemotherapy to help kill/stop the cancer from spreading any further, to no avail.

Her passing is a profound loss to our family, and especially her son (Corey). We are reaching out to all who can support him as he prepares to lay her to rest. He wants our support in prayers, financial blessings, and love offerings.

He’s in an extremely tough and hard-hitting situation. Because of her long fight for recovery, getting chemotherapy treatments, hospitalization, medication, and so on and on. She was forced to borrow against the life insurance she had to cover some of these surmounting medical expenses. She had stopped working, and with no additional income to support this battle she was fighting, money too dwindled to nothing. This is our/his heartfelt plea for your help and support.

Your kind support during this time is greatly appreciated. There’s no amount too big or too small. As Jamaicans would say “every Mickle mek ah Muckle” (Translation: “Every little bit helps”)

“In the same way, Faith by itself if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? “James 2:17 NIV

We may all be going through something or another, but the love of family and friends should be there in times like this.

We are hoping to reach a goal of $20,000 to help Corey give his mother a proper home going celebration (funeral). Your kindness we seek.
