Dawn Nelis

Hi everyone! My name is Laura Huynh. I am a colleague and nurse friend of Dawn Nelis. I am reaching out to Dawn’s family, friends, and colleagues to help raise money for her two daughters, Vanessa and Genny. As you all know, Dawn had been battling cancer for about a year and finally lost her battle on 08/13/2020. She leaves behind two beautiful daughters-Vanessa, 18 years old, and Genny, 10 years old. Dawn loved both of her daughters wholeheartedly and would do anything for them. She was deeply saddened in her last days knowing that she could not be there for them much longer.  

Dawn had been a nurse at Hoag for over 25 years. During her nursing career, she had cared for many cancer patients. She is one of the most caring and compassionate nurse you would ever meet. She gave unselfishly to others and helped everyone in need. She is the true image of kindness and love. We will all miss her positive energy and vibrant smile. Her legacy will live on in our hearts. The world has lost one of the best nurses but Heaven has gained another angel.  Dawn is a great daughter, dependable sister, and a loving mother. Dawn inspired her daughter, Vanessa, to follow in her footsteps to become a nurse. Vanessa just recently started college and has chosen to study nursing. Let us all help Vanessa achieve her dreams. Vanessa and Genny will share the money raised.

A THANK YOU MESSAGE FROM VANESSA:

I want to thank everyone who has supported my family and me during my mother’s battle with cancer. When people called her a fighter, she truly was. Sadly, her fight came to an unfortunate end but her legacy will live on forever in all of our hearts. Thank you all so much for the tremendous love and support you have shown our family. The passing of my mother has been very difficult for us but knowing how much everyone cared brings me tremendous peace and comfort. I have heard that many of you wanted to donate money to my sister and I. I was deeply touched when I heard about this. It is such a kind and humble gesture. I plan to use the money collected to fund educational expenses for Genny and I. My mother is my hero and I want to become a nurse just like her. Again, thank you all so much for your kindness and love. God bless you all.
