Dawn helps everyone… now it’s our turn!

Dawn Cardullo, Warwick resident, Lasalle Academy and JWU alumni is always the light in everyone’s lives, everyone knows if they need something or they’re going through a hard time, Dawn is the first person to call, she’s reliable, resilient, and there for everyone. Dawn would drop everything for a complete stranger if she knew they needed the help.

Recently, Dawn was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation is a condition where the brain tissue extends into the spinal canal, this happens when a part of the skull is smaller than usual, causing pressure on the brain and brain stem.

On November 7th, 2022, Dawn went in for Chiari Decompression surgery.

Dawn’s brain was then reshaped and moved back into the skull, the brain stem was reshaped and held with an anchor, her doctor said it was the worst case of Chiari Malformation they had seen yet.

Dawn was expected to be out of work for 6 weeks, which quickly turned into 12.

Having a family, grandkids and multiple rescue animals, it is hard to sustain. Dawn’s friends and family have been helping her at every moment we can, cooking her meals, and overall helping her navigate every day life while in recovery.

Dawn is strong and resilient every day, just about 3 years out from a major motorcycle accident and a recent health diagnosis (unrelated to Chiari), Dawn persevered and continued to be everyone else’s rock, despite all of her hardships. Supporting her family, friends and her rescue pit bulls despite it all.

Dawn will be out of work many more weeks than expected. This can be hard to afford basic needs like her food, medication, medical bills and even mortgage.

We are asking for help to afford these basic things to keep her above water while she comfortable recovers and goes through physical therapy treatment, considering both her and her partner are out of work to aide in successful recovery.
