This Go Fund Me is for our terminally ill sister who is in her mid-fifties and in a very difficult place. Dawn Grove was recently diagnosed with stage 4 metastasis cancer that has spread to her brain, lungs and bones. Sadly, the doctors believe that Dawn has less than 6 months to live. Our family is reaching out to others with hopes of helping fund raise for her end of life care.
Unfortunately her insurance will not cover a board and care home required for her to receive hospice services or the 24/7 caregivers that the doctors say she will need. The costs associated with this kind of care is estimated to be approximately $5,000 a month out of pocket. We are trying to help her receive the care she needs, and also help her be comfortable while she lives out her final days.
Dawn is a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a wife, and a friend to many. If you know her personally, you know she has a huge heart and has touched many lives. As we all know, sometimes things don’t go as we plan and we find ourselves in unbelievably difficult situations. Dawn and our family are going through this exact thing right now.
We ask with faith and gratitude in our hearts for your help in making Dawn’s final wishes come true: a simple request to spend her remaining time being cared for and in a comfortable place.
If for any reason there are funds remaining after Dawn has passed, they will be donated to Joshua’s House. This is a non-profit that will offer housing and compassionate medical treatment to homeless people who are terminally ill during the final days of their life. Joshua’s House is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2019 in Sacramento, CA. https://joshuashousehospice.org/
