S.T.A.R (STRONG,TRUSTED,ADMIRED,REMARKABLE) DAWN CLARKE'S LEGACY, GIVE LIFE MEANING FUND

Hi my name is louise, dawns daughter, I WON'T START with ASKING for DONATIONS, not UNTIL I have EXPLAINED FULLY what it is YOUR donating to (just as I WOULD want a FULL EXPLANATION and UNDERSTANDING)and that's the reason, some may find this a long post but HOPEFULLY I HAVE done my MUM, the ORGANISATION and even YOU JUSTICE by the END of it, even IF it GIVES an INDIVIDUAL UNDERSTANDING or give that ONE PERSON STRUGGLING some HOPE....

I KNOW their are a few out their who may be SKEPTICAL, NOT be EDUCATED on the matter or have NO UNDERSTANDING of it (SOME NO FAULT of their own) some BELIEVE that its just BLACK and WHITE that ADDICTION is a CHOICE with everyone and that addiction MEANS drink or drugs...NOT KNOWING that it COMES IN MANY FORMS/COPING MECHANISMS/REASONS WHY!

I WILL START of with ASKING YOU THIS...WHO WOULD CHOOSE SUCH A LIFE!!.. IF NOT for it BEING a DISEASE that TAKES OVER your MIND and BODY.... UNFORTUNATELY, IT'S NOT just as black and white SOME JUDGE IT to be so...and SOME can be IGNORANT to the CAUSE even AFTER being EDUCATED...(SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!)... WE DON'T REALLY KNOW the BACKGROUND of that ONE'S INDIVIDUAL who COULD of BEEN FORCED and FED and HOOKED on these to KEEP them SEDATED whilst they were TRAFFICKED and PIMPED out TOOK AWAY from their ONCE NORMAL family LIFE and INNOCENCE...or those in PAIN PHYSICALLY or MENTALLY from things such as TRAUMA, RAPES, ABUSE, ABANDONED.... of WORKING STATUS (FUNCTIONAL addicts) who have been fobbed of with PAINKILLERS that went on LONGER than it SHOULD WITHOUT REAL HELP and was the ONLY CHOICE THEY THOUGHT they had,.. to give them a PARTIAL SENSE of a WAY OUT a HEAD BREAK where they DIDN'T think was POSSIBLE, whilst sat their SUICIDAL or COULDN'T LIVE with the PAIN and was OFFERED NO FURTHER HELP...and that is just to name a FEW but im HOPING you understand a little more at THIS STAGE the POINT im trying to make!!.....(THANKYOU for reading to this point and continuing on to read to the end )...

INSTEAD of them HAVING to MEDICATE THEMSELVES to get through...THIS IS something the ORGANISATION OPERATED BY THE CHARITY T.H.O.M.A.S. (Those On The Margins Of A Society) ( also was our MUMS JOB and PASSION)...THEY DO, ... HAVE AND WILL make a BIG DIFFERENCE to those FIGHTING to GIVE THEIR LIFE MEANING... RATHER than TRYING to FIND the MEANING OF LIFE (which MANY of us do SOBER or NOT) THIS was ONE of the WISE ADVICES my MUM would GIVE to MANY as their is a huge difference...

SECONDARY CARE STARTS of where they come out of detox (DETOXED/clean)...into a shared living, where they START the HARDIEST PART of their RECOVERY by FACING THEIR DEMONS, they long to FORGET (REASONS WHY they ENDED up in this position ) and it STARTS with LIVING in a SHARED HOUSE with around 5 others who ARE LOOKED AFTER 24 hrs either by their PERSONAL KEY WORKERS,THERAPISTS, NEEDED GUIDANCE and ACCESS to all the SUPPORT NEEDED and WILL be SUPPORTED till they are DEEMED CLINICALLY, PHYSICALLY and MENTALLY READY to go HOME to START their NEW way of LIFE... they also RECONNECT with FAMILIES in here and do group support etc... you name it they do it....and the BEST THING is it really DOES WORK having SECONDARY CARE and getting to the ROOT of the PROBLEM RATHER than just a QUICK TEMPORARY SOLUTION...MOST go on to CONNECT back with FAMILY, gone on to GIVE BACK to SOCIETY and MAKE a BIG DIFFERENCE as they come from EXPERIENCE and can RELATE, (but also have to get the same education and graduation to qualify just as my mum did who went on to university and got a MASTERS DEGREE as was so intelligent and looked up to by many peers) as those they help can come from all different backgrounds and to name a few theirs those, who have been TRAFFICKED, RAPED, ABANDONED....SOME NEVER HAD a CHANCE and the START of their LIFE'S STARTED in SUBSTANCES from as YOUNG as CHILDREN, the STORIES some of these SURVIVORS have CAN be to HAUNTING even for a HORROR MOVIE you couldn't finish till the end, so the most IMPORTANT part is they can START to HEAL... so at THIS POINT....BEFORE JUDGING or HUMMING and ARRING because YOU CAN'T RELATE or SUPPORT the CAUSE...I ASK YOU this just THINK if it was YOUR SON, DAUGHTER, MUM, DAD, SISTER, BROTHER, GRANDCHILDREN or FRIENDS or FAMILY etc (now really REALLY THINK ABOUT THIS) ..WOULD YOU RATHER they be JUDGED and NOT SUPPORTED to CONTINUE on and END up ALONE or in a COFFIN or WOULD YOU RATHER people be educated on the matter and SHOW COMPASSION and SUPPORT because I KNOW MANY who have HAD the SECOND CHOICE (for EXAMPLE my mum) who was a SURVIVOR who WENT ON TO BE a SAVIOUR for MANY LIVES who turned their lives around, many to go on in this profession and GIVE BACK and more HUMBLED/APPRECIATIVE with EVEYDAY they LIVE, some go on to get their CHILDREN BACK.... which the CHILDREN GET their PARENTS BACK (PREVENTING THEM TURNING to such COPING MECHANISMS later on in life and STOPPING the CYCLE)... and you get some who EARN their familys trust and safety net back and the FAMILYS who GAIN a DAUGHTER, SON or ANYONE they LOST BACK ...If you ASK many SURVIVORS they will tell you that BATTLING their DEMONS is HARDER than battling the ADDICTION ITSELF as that WAS their to LOCK AWAY the demons as to UNBEARABLE to let them through and that's what this ORGANISATION MY MUM WORKED FOR and the WORK SHE DID DOES HELP those who REALLY WANT IT and NEED IT because WITHOUT the AFTERCARE and THERAPY helping to live back into society WITHOUT being TORMENTED from TRAUMA every second of every minute of each day THINKING they CAN'T LIVE in this life sober as some have ONLY CROSSED PATHS with EVIL and CRUELTY , and they feel they are WORTHLESS and not worthy of help or that SOCIETY is NOT KIND and LOST FAITH.... .. but WITH the HELP they are BUILT back up (by their OWN ACCORD and TREMENDOUS STRENGTH and WILLPOWER) with also the HELP of THOSE QUALIFIED NOT ONLY by READING CONTEXT out of a BOOK but THOSE who ACTUALLY CARE or SOME come FROM EXPERIENCE from EITHER TRAUMA or ADDICTION and have a BETTER UNDERSTANDING....as the AMOUNT of PEOPLE I have had COME UP TO ME and SAY how GRATEFUL they are to my MUM DAWN CLARKE for the LIFE they have been ABLE to lead and WOULD NOT be here or where they are at in life TODAY, WITHOUT the KINDNESS, STRICT NO bullshit ATTITUDE, COMPASSION, EDUCATED, WISDOM OF WORDS (they still live by today) UNDERSTANDING and faith in MY MUMS SUPPORT who went above and beyond as she BELIEVED in EVERYONE as SHE was PROOF ANYONE is CAPABLE if they put in the HARD work BATTLE their DEMONS or at least UNLOCK that door, be HONEST, and most of all WANT to do it for THEMSELVES, and with the right support then it was DOABLE....and with the help they recieve afterwards, most go on and STAY clean and LIVE a completely different HUMBLED LIFE but WITHOUT the secondary care MOST will go on to RELAPSE as their demons WON and were to STRONG, if you ask most they will tell you that can be the hardiest part is WORKING THROUGH the problems,trauma,demons that had LED to this WAY OF LIFE in the first place and WHY they take a way out to STOP being haunted, even if just for a while not reliving such trauma, to afraid to ask for help or offered support in a safe environment to reveal their nightmares...

SO THAT IS WHY In MEMORY of my mum and her LEGACY we are so VERY PROUD OF and INSPIRED BY.. I have CHANGED it THIS YEAR to DO A COLLECTION ON HER BIRTHDAY (19 September a bit late putting it up) INSTEAD of the DATE she PASSED AWAY as I DON'T want her to be remembered of her death, I want her life and what AN AMAZING SELFLESS WOMAN she was...and SAVED THOUSANDS of lives and LEFT US a LEGACY we can be PROUD of and TRY to CARRY ON in OUR BEAUTIFUL MUM'S/DAWN CLARKES name and HONOUR HER with trying to do some GOOD and CARRYING ON some of HER GOOD WORK she WAS so DEDICATED to and LOVED, but UNFORTUNATELY was TOOK AWAY from US and the GOOD WORK she did at the PRIME and MOST HAPPIEST time of HER LIFE, as CANCER had the UPPER HAND FROM DOCTORS DISGUSTING INCOMPETENCE (and AFTER ALL she had BATTLED and gone/got through) BUT we WERE LUCKY we HAD our MUM back 10 YEARS SOBER and thats what PUSHES ME ALSO ...even IF its just ONE FAMILY, INDIVIDUAL WE CAN MAKE a DIFFERENCE to its well WORTH IT...so PLEASE just have a THINK IF it was SOMEONE CLOSE TO YOU would you WANT THEIR TO BE HELP out their FOR THEM or be JUDGED and DISMISSED by those uneducated/ignorant, judgemental part of society who USE THE PHRASE ...."IT'S THEIR CHOICE" .....and not IDENTIFY it for what IT IS..A DISEASE that TAKES OVER MIND and BODY .... so PLEASE IF YOU CAN HELP THOSE who are in NEED of YOUR HELP/COMPASSION and NON judgemental attitude (treat them with dignity they deserve)...it would be NOT ONLY theirs but also MY GRATITUDE for DONATING ANYTHING YOU CAN to HELP THESE WOMAN,MEN, EVEN YOUNG GIRLS and BOYS that some have KNOWN NOTHING else APART from EVIL and CRUELTY... to get the help they so DESPERATELY NEED and WANT and to SHOW them they are NOT ONLY cared for and helped by those whose jobs IT IS...but ALSO by HUMANITY that DON'T have to help, BUT ARE WILLING to help... which HOPEFULLY for some WILL pave a way FROM FEAR TO HOPE again.....

RECOVERY at T.H.O.M.A.S. does NOT END with the RESIDENTIAL STAY. The SERVICE PROVIDES a STRONG AFTERCARE PROGRAMME, inviting former service users to ENGAGE with LOCAL COMMUNITIES and CONTRIBUTE as PEER MENTORS, offering ONGOING ENCOURAGEMENT and GUIDANCE to those CURRENTLY in TREATMENT.
