Dawn as she’s undergoing treatments

Hi, everyone. First, I want to start by saying thank you to each and every one of you who have reached out — via call, text, FB message. We all appreciate it immensely.

I’m Deena, Dawn’s sister. I know many of you very well and some of you not so much but we all know Dawn — her obscenities, her humor, her larger-than-life personality. She received devastating news last week and today it was confirmed that she has rectal cancer. Plan of care is still tentative but her surgeon believes it will consist of chemo/radiation to shrink the large tumor, possibly followed by surgery. He suspects she is going to be receiving daily radiation treatments for 6 weeks with simultaneous oral chemo. This is likely going to mean missed work for both Dawn and Nick, trips to Bloomington to see her surgeon, and recovery periods. She’s only been in her current position for 3 months and has already used all accrued PTO.

We’d appreciate anything you’re able to give, be that monetary, good thoughts, vibes, prayers, a new rectum (Dawn’s humor). She loves all her friends like family. She will fight this like the badass bitch she is and it will all work itself out in the end, pun definitely intended.
