Dawn (Mayert) & Carl Klassen - #cancersucks

This is a call for help on behalf of my niece Dawn (Mayert) Klassen, her husband Carl Klassen and their two amazing young children. This family is no stranger to cancer, however, this time they will be needing some help.
At the beginning of the this summer 2020 Carl found an abnormally swollen lymph node on his neck. After tests, scans, biopsies and many appointments in Winnipeg, MB, they have the results no one wants to hear.
Carl has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Nasopharyngeal cancer. The tumor in the back of his nose is not surgically removable. He will require several rounds of chemotherapy followed by radiation treatment alongside further chemotherapy.
Dawn and Carl are working very hard to stay positive and to do everything possible to prepare for this fight. They have confidence in Carl’s medical team and the plan they have set forth.
In order for Dawn to support Carl with appointments in Winnipeg and his care at home, while keeping life as normal as possible for their children, she will have to take an extended leave from her career.
This is going to be a very long road for a very young and active family. Having taken the time to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary, get in a summer of camping and watching the start of the NHL playoffs, they are now preparing for the fight of their lives.
This is where I am asking for your help.
With the travels to and from Winnipeg for appointments and treatments from their home sweet home in Rosser, MB, their income will be greatly reduced as expenses increase. Carl is fortunate to have some income insurance through his work but Dawn’s income will be suspended as she stays home to care for her family.
As they focus on this fight, we can greatly assist by reducing their financial stress.
Dawn will be the direct beneficiary of this fund and will be able to withdraw the funds as needed. It will be important to cover costs of parking, medications, and extra supplies needed to help Carl stay comfortable at home.
