David's Recovery Fund
Around midnight on June 28, 2021, my nephew David was involved in a firework accident. What started as an innocent celebration of 4th of July turned into a life altering night for this bright, adventurous, and loving 19-year-old.
After being rushed to the hospital, David underwent an emergency surgery and was lucky to escape with his life and eyesight. He unfortunately lost several fingers, sustained severe burns to his face, chest, arms and hands, not to mention the countless fractures. But the battle continues. David will need more surgeries and these injuries, especially the impeded range of motion in his hands, will affect him for the rest of his life.
I’m not sure how many of you have had the pleasure of meeting David, but I don’t think it is an exaggeration to say he is one of the most positive, sincere, and active people you have ever met. Ever since he was a baby, he has always been on the move - touching, interacting, and finding joy in everything. Every year I watch David get older. Somehow, he has never lost that childlike curiosity and passion for living. Even throughout his teen years, he has consistently gone out of his way to play, teach, and entertain his younger cousins. During a family party last year, when the kids were going crazy from boredom and covid isolation (and were probably pretty annoying) David took it upon himself to find and set up water toys so they could play. This is just one example out of literally, hundreds. Whether he has known you his whole life or only 15 minutes, David is always happy to make you happy.
Right now, it is our turn to help David. I have been wracking my brain to think of how I can help him. In characteristic David fashion, I realized the way to help him was to help his closest family be able to support him. Right now, his parents are spending all their time at David’s side, but bills – hospital, medical, and living – are only going to increase. If you are financially able, any donation you find in your heart to contribute will be appreciated beyond measure. The donations will go directly to support his recovery and living expenses. $1 or $20 – there is no donation too small! It truly takes a village. If you are not able to contribute financially, please know that your emotional and spiritual support will be indispensable on David's long road to recovery.
So, as we celebrate 4th of July this year, please keep David in your thoughts. We are eternally grateful for whatever help you are able to provide.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Please pray for his quick recovery.
