We know that college is VERY EXPENSIVE and the price tag continues to grow. That’s why we are asking for support as we send Davonte off to college in the fall.
Davonte is a 2019 graduate from East English Village high school in Detroit, where he served as the class president. In the fall, he plans to attend Alabama A&M University where he will study Political science with an minor in criminal justice. Since 2015, Davonte has volunteered with the community-based organization Good Jobs Now under the leadership of Rebeca Thompson and Branden Snyder and with his neighborhood community center, the Love Social Cafe where he has spent countless hours Servicing the homeless, fighting for education justice and leading conversations around fully funding public education. Davonte is now the Co-Chair of "Voice of Detroit Youth" which id the youth committee of Good Jobs Now. With such a humble spirit Davonte has spoke at major conferences like the "NEA Leadership Summit" , Big Picture Learning and many more all in advocacy of funding for public education Davonte is an Honor Roll student and has received awards for his activism.
Although our goal is $3,000, Davonte’s tuition and fees, plus lodging, will be over $20,000 a year. Anything you can contribute to supporting this new chapter in Davonte’s life will be greatly appreciated.
