Davis is a sweet little boy that has dealt with issues since before he was born. When I was pregnant with him we had established his first name, but not his middle one. I was sitting in church one Sunday, and out of know where, the name Paul just appeared in my mind, as that was to be it! I’ve never been a fan of the name Paul for myself, although it is a good name, until then. I really believe God named him Davis “Paul” Theodorou. He is a bright child and has potential that only God knows what HE has planned for him. Even though he has issues, you can see him thinking and some of the things he does do will surprise you!
Back to his issues, the doctors were concerned with the venticals in his brain. After many MRIs he was later determined those are large, but on the upper end of normal… for now. However, in finding that out, they discovered a cist in his brain. A newborn baby getting an MRI and the mom is told there is something in his brain! I was petrified! It was later determined that it is just there and not affecting anything that they can tell but being monitored to ensure that stays the case. Then the developmental delays started and tests for just about everything the doctors could come up with. Everything turned out normal and nothing explained what is wrong. Fast forward to school where he started pre-school at the age of 3 to get speech and occupational therapy through the system. He spent 2 years in pre-school and now on his 2nd year of kindergarten. The school speech therapist has diagnosed him with Apraxia of Speech. At least we have some answers.
The most recent concern is why he will not do his paper work like writing his letters and numbers. He just stopped. After many months of changing his schedule, therapies with the school, trying different things, we finally may have an answer for that. It seems his eyes will not track or focus more than a few seconds. If he can’t see his paper, he isn’t going to do the work! Now, for the hardest part to swallow… insurance companies do NOT see eye therapy as covered.
After years of medical tests and sleepless nights, we finally, hopefully, have an answer to help our sweet Davis get to a normal state but there is a $6K+ bill sitting in the way of getting a healthy boy. The family is doing everything we can to raise the money and this is one of many ways we are trying.
The therapy sessions are $3075 each and we were told he would need to do 2 sessions, plus the doctor said she plans to bring in 2 other specialists to work on his case as well, whom will have their own bills. In addition, it is a 2-hour drive one way to the therapy sessions for Davis which will have to be done weekly.
This GoFund me page has been created to try and reduce stress we are facing, as we don’t have $6k sitting around. Some people don’t like using Go Fund me, so here is a link to the doctor’s website. If you can help please donate here or just send the doctor a small check with “Davis Theodorou” noted on the memo line. Just make it out to "Vision Now" Thank you so much and even if you can’t help, thank you for taking the time to read our story and share it for others who might be able to help.
